Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal, which is typically a rectangular structure with a net located at each end of a rectangular field known as a pitch. Players primarily use their feet to move the ball, but they can also use their bodies, except for their hands and arms, unless they are the designated goalkeeper. The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which dictate aspects such as fouls, offside rules, and how the game is played. Soccer is known for being one of the most popular sports worldwide, with a rich history and cultural significance in many countries. It is played at both amateur and professional levels, with various leagues and international competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, which is the most prestigious tournament in the sport.
